PONCA CITY – A meeting at a trade show in March has yielded more than 50 jobs for Ponca City. A St. Louis-based software company announced plans on Thursday to open a customer service, sales and testing facility in Ponca City. Host Analytics expects to have more than 50 employees at the North American Center of Excellence.
“These are highly paid, professional positions and we have a skilled, experience work force looking for these jobs," said Darrell Stolhand, chairman of the Ponca City Development Authority. "It’s a good fit.”
The move will allow the company to add customer service, sales and testing operations into a consolidated center.
The business performance management software includes budgeting and financial reporting software. The software was designed to help companies comply with the Sarbanes Oxley legislation, said Jim Eberlin, president of Host Analytics.
“We needed a cost-competitive community close to our current St. Louis location that had the skilled work force, business infrastructure and support needed for our industry," Eberlin said. "Ponca City offered everything we needed.
Eberlin first met with officials from Ponca City and the Oklahoma State Department of Commerce in March at a trade show in Orlando. Discussions began between the company and the community in April.
Most of the new employees are expected to come from the Ponca City area, said Tim Burg, assistant director of the Ponca City Development Authority.
The Ponca City area had an unemployment rate of 5.5 percent in May, up from 5.1 percent in April but down from 5.6 percent in May 2004, according to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. Ponca City's labor force in May totaled 27,110 workers.
“We have a number of very bright, entrepreneurial people in our community that want to build their careers here," Burg said. "Host offers them this opportunity and it’s a real home run for both the company and Ponca City.”
The Ponca City Development Authority and the State of Oklahoma offered incentive programs to bring the company to Ponca City. The incentives are based upon the number of employees and the rate of pay for company personnel.
